Below is a brief insight as to the depth of the work carried out when we restore a scooter. If you would like further information please feel free to contact us.
Firstly the Lambretta is stripped right down to the last nut and bolt this includes engine forks and frame.
Everything is then sorted, serviceable parts are retained. The Frame, forks, body panel,, wheels, hubs etc are blasted. Panel and Frame work are repaired/welded where necessary and primed. All parts are then finished in two pack paint with the colour of your choice.
The Crank case is stripped bare. Usually the case is then cleaned, rough surfaces removed and treated to a VHT black finish (polished cases optional). The crank case cover is polished as standard.
Engine is then fully rebuilt using mainly new quality parts including crankshaft, bearings, seals, clutch chain and guides. We fit electronic ignition as an option but are happy to return the machine with standard original electrical equipment.
All engines are rebuilt to include your personal requirements with any performance enhancements added.
The machine is now rebuilt with new cables, rubber trim and badges etc. When finished the bike will look better than it would look when it first left the factory. Of course this would be due to the use of modern materials.
How long it takes to restore your scooter depends upon our current workload, but we aim to complete within the estimated time given upon order. The cost of course depends upon your budget. Tell us what you can afford and we will work out what we can do for you.
In addition, we can MOT and register your machine, all you need to do is ride away your Pride and Joy.
